News to Non-Christians: You are going to lose.

So... what Christmas is about... what Easter is about.... is empire. Emperors like Augustus Caesar used to change the calendar to date zero year as the year of the birth of the emperor. 2020. Two thousand and twenty years since Jesus was born. Who gives a bleep if that is not exactly the date Jesus was born that is why the calendar is what it is.

Jesus started with 12 followers in a hostile world. 12 guys in the desert. But now look at it. A third of the world, when asked, say they view Christ as the King of this world. What does that mean? It means that a third of the world says that given the question of who they would obey.... their government or Christ, who would they obey, they would obey Christ. I have no idea how many would actually doe that but that is remarkable. That would by far be the biggest empire in history. A third of the world? Amazing.

But here is the other amazing thing. Not only do Christians follow Christ but many of the laws Christ laid down have now been embraced by people who do not follow Christ. Things like the equality before God of all people (Galatians 3:28), forgiveness of enemies (Luke 6) and concern for the poor (James 2) are now almost universally considered good things. None of this was true before Jesus became king.

So clearly Jesus has become a king like this world has never seen. Billions of followers. Billions submitting to his law.

But here is the promise of the bible. It will not stop here. Jesus's kingdom will not cease to grow:

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)

The increase of his government will have no end....

Those proclaiming Christianity's time has come to an end are contradicted by the prophets. It will not end.

The global church is growing.

Despite the naysayers, the church in the USA is not shrinking either.

The church has grown in amazing numbers for 2000 years. The prophets (so far) have been right.

And given this 2000 year track record, we should trust them going forward. They say that in the end, heaven will crash into earth (Revelation 21). King Jesus is not done with this world.

I know my readers are skeptical. I know things seem like they are moving, if anything, in the wrong direction. But they are not. Atheists will lose. Muslims will lose. Hindus will lose. King Jesus will expand his kingdom. It will expand to the whole world.
